Nathanael Pangrazio comes from a family rich in creativity.  His father, Michael Pangrazio, is well known for his work as a matte painter and art director on such famous films as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, ET,  Ewok Adventure most recently King Kong and The Lovely Bones and numerous others.   Nathanael Pangrazio grew up constantly exposed to a very high level of artistry.   “When I was young I remember watching my dad painting the backround scenes.   I remember the models and the cameras, all of it excited me.   At the time, I wasn’t aware that some of these films would go on to become some of the greatest films in  history.”


Nathanael has always been interested in artistic pursuits.  He has a wide range of skills and interests, and in his childhood was constantly making films, designing costumes writing scripts and writing music.    At the age of fourteen he began competing in piano competitions, and became well respected as a performer.   During his late teens he became fascinated with choral music, and began working with choirs regularly in rehearsal and performance.  He formed a community chorus called Cante Libre which lasted for nearly five years and received exceptional reviews for is bi-annual concerts in Monterey California.   At the age of fifteen, he received his first commission as a composer, and wrote a Kyrie which was performed by the professional choral organization, I Cantori.  At age seventeen and eighteen he received two more commissions, most importantly from the Carmel Bach Festival, their first commissioned work since their founding seventy years ago.  The other was “Absolom” commissioned by the Camerata Singers.

At age twenty he attended Indiana University School of Music, studying composition, voice, and piano.

Nathanael Pangrazio toured with the choral group I Cantori di Carmel in Italy and Croatia where they performed his work “Kyrie Elision” -  most recently  two of his orchestral works were performed by the Bloomington Symphony in their outdoor Pops concert,  in addition he was commissioned by Hidden Valley Institute of the Arts to write two flute pieces performed by the flautist Keith Underwood.


Nathanael is currently working with tenor Jesus Leon as producer of his next CD.
